GroVia All-in-One Review (2023)

I received this product free of charge for my evaluation. All opinions are my own.

The GroVia All-in-One (AIO) was my first experience with AIO diapers, three years ago when the Cub was small. (Who knew he did it three years laterstillWearing a diaper...? ) When I started using cloth diapers, I only used the GroVia and the Bummis sleeves with the Bummis pre-folded, so I was completely clueless about the different diaper styles. I don't know what a pocket diaper is, I just know that an all-in-one diaper is one piece. The reason I chose the GroVia AIO was because I already had a case for them. Back then I didn't know as much about the different types of all-in-one diapers on the market as I do today.

The GroVia AIO doesn't work well on the Cub: my legs keep leaking. In fact, I sold them all. Now that I've used these on Miss Bear and have a great knowledge of cloth diapers, I just don't feel like I'm using them properly on Miss Bear. I haven't had any leaks with my citrus (dream color) GroVia AIO, I wouldn't say it's wetter than its brother, just a smaller growth curve. When I had a problem with my GroVia AIO, I didn't even know there were plenty of cloth diaper moms and dads in the world who could help me out. Look how far I've come!

The GroVia AIO is fundamentally different from most all-in-one diapers on the market. Instead of your typical front waist closure with tabs (like disposable diapers), the GroVia snaps on the hipsexcellentElastic label.

Am I a big fan of side diapers? No, not particularly. It's mostly personal preference, but I suspect it's that harder-to-use fastener that's giving me problems with the Cub when I don't know how to fit a cloth diaper properly.

Diaper liners, sewn-in liners, and snap pads are all made from 100% organic cotton. Inserts attach "tongue style" to the back of the diaper, reducing diaper drying time. The booster button is located on top of the sewn-in infuser.

The elastic at the back waist and legs is noticeably wider than other cloth diapers in our collection.

The GroVia AIO is cut narrow between the legs and straight across the front belly, with no elastic band similar to the front waist.Glovia OneandGlovia Scale

For maximum absorbency, you will need to wash and dry your GroVia AIO frequently. (The instructions say 5-6 washes.) I admit I only washed and dried them twice before wearing the Little Miss, but I'm sure the first few times I'll replace them soon.

For all the leaks I've encountered on Cubs, I've found no leaks overall with the GroVia AIO on the Little Miss Cub. (Even if the diaper wasn't fully coated, we didn't have any leaks!)

I think the longest run we've had with the booster so far was five hours. What is the key to success the second time around? fit! I suspect I didn't wrap the diaper tightly around his thick thighs for fear of hurting him. I doubt he has a proper "washer" in his groin so the pee just rolls out. Now, as a fearless and experienced cloth diaper mom, I extend the locking tab, snap the bottom first, and pull the front of the diaper up and to the side as I do. I also didn't know that I could swap the snaps: tighten the hips, then loosen the belly. This is a great choice if you value comfort, especially when your baby is in a sitting position.

GroVia has a great video showing how to properly match your AIO. i have seen itbackWe've been testing it for a while, and that's exactly how I use it (and how I didn't use it on the Cub when I had the leak).

Reasons I love GroVia AIOs:

  • Tongue soaker with snap-on booster means less drying time and easier cleaning. Since the second insert is removable, you can reduce the volume for smaller babies.
  • Super fit to the body. Although I don't think I'd agree with thatonlyAccording to GroVia's website, the tight-fitting diapers on the market are definitely some of the thinnest we've tried. Side snaps mean it's right thereInvalidThe front of the GroVia AIO butt is curved and not fluffy at all.

  • Large Heavy Duty Snaps: As far as I know, GroVia and Bummis are the only brands that use these large heavy duty snaps. I find them easier to use.
  • Thanks to the snap buttons on the sides and the smooth cut at the front, the front waist is wrinkle-free even at a lower waist.
  • Although brief, it is very absorbing.
  • These str-e-e-e-etchy tabs allow for a really secure fit and the double snap closure means you can really adjust the size as I discussed above. Elastic tabs allow this diaper to be used as "pull up" training pants.
  • GroVia is one of my favorite companies because of their social initiatives and obvious dedication to their fans.

The things I don't like about the GroVia AIO are:

(Note that many of these disadvantages can also be considered advantages.)

  • Cotton feels very damp on baby skin: The lack of a synthetic drying layer can be a problem for some babies (but the lack of synthetic fibers can also be a selling point for others).
  • Anyway, the cotton inside leaves a stain pretty quickly, but sunlight does wonders for poop stains.
  • To be fair, GroVia diapers are made overseas. As you know, I always give bonus points for diapers made in the US or Canada.
  • The price tag is steep ($32.99), but there's no question that this is a high-quality, well-made, and durable diaper.
  • Of all the diapers I've tested, I'd say the GroVia AIO has the steepest learning curve when it comes to fit for new cloth diaper users. It is definitely the least disposable diaper, which is the experience of many parents.
  • Side ties aren't my favorite style, but keep in mind they're super adjustable (if you know how) and help keep the diaper skinny overall. Even if you're changing a standing toddler, side ties can be your best friend.

Using GroVia AIOs as Training Pants

Perhaps what makes me a side diaper proponent is that the GroVia AIO's elastic side panels are great for use as a pull-up trainer. Simply grab the diaper looser than usual, then put it on and take it off like underwear! You can watch GroVia's how-to videohere

Bottom line:

I really wish I knew about the online community for cloth diaper parents when I was struggling with my GroVia AIO in the Cub. I sold my dozen or so diapers on the cheap thinking they wouldn't work for us. GroVia has a greatofficial chat groupIf you need to troubleshoot one of their products!
